経歴・プロフィール
ポーリーン・メルビルは1948年にガイアナでヨーロッパ系とアメリンディアン系の混血として生まれました。彼女は女優として活動し、『モナリザ』やBBCのコメディシリーズ『ザ・ヤング・ワンズ』などの映画やテレビ番組に出演しましたが、1990年に執筆に転向しました。彼女の短編小説や小説は高く評価され、コモンウェルス作家賞、ガーディアンフィクション賞、ウィットブレッド初小説賞、ガイアナ文学賞など、多くの賞を受賞しています。
