ジェームス・ウォーレン・ジョーンズ（1931年5月13日 - 1978年11月18日）は、アメリカの牧師、政治活動家、そして大量殺人者でした。彼は1955年から1978年まで新宗教運動である人民寺院を率いていました。ジョーンズが「革命的自殺」と呼んだこの事件では、彼と彼の内輪のメンバーが、1978年11月18日にガイアナのジョーンスタウンにある彼の孤立したジャングルのコミューンで大量殺人・自殺を orchestratedしました。ジョーンズとジョーンスタウンで起こった出来事は、カルトに対する社会の認識に決定的な影響を与えました。
