スウィングの王様！有名なクラリネット奏者、作曲家（「サヴォイのステップ」）および指揮者で、シカゴのルイス工科大学で教育を受け、シリンガーとショッペの生徒でした。彼はビックス・ベイダーベック、ジュール・エルブヴォー、アーノルド・ジョンソン、ベン・ポラックのオーケストラでクラリネット奏者として活動し、ブロードウェイの劇場オーケストラでも演奏しました。1934年にビリー・ローズ・ミュージックホールで自身のオーケストラを率い始め、1934年から1935年にかけて週刊ラジオ番組「レッツ・ダンス」のオーケストラを指揮し、数多くのホテル、大学、劇場で演奏しました。音楽活動を広げ、室内楽コンサートにも出演し、...
