モンティ・バンクスは、短身でがっしりとした体格ながら、どこか洗練されたイタリア生まれのコメディ俳優であり、その後、作家や監督としても活躍しました。1914年にアメリカに渡り、最初はミュージカルコメディやキャバレーの舞台に立ちました。1917年にはニューヨークのドミンゲスカフェでダンサーとして働いていました。その後、映画に転向し、キーストーン、ユニバーサル、アル・クリスティのために演技やスタントを行いました。名前をマリオ・ビアンキからモンティ・バンクスに変更したのは、ロスコー・「ファッティ」・アーバックルの「モンテバンクス」を演じることへの言及が影響したのかもしれません。1919年にはヴィタグラ...
