ややほつれた風貌のキャラクター俳優ルース・レインズは、洗練されていない田舎者の役を専門に演じており、多くの法執行官、保安官、カウボーイを含んでいます。レインズは、1978年のディスコ映画『サンキュー・ゴッド・イッツ・フライデー』で小さな役でデビューしました。その後の出演作には『ワイアット・アープ』（1994年）、『バンパイア』（1998年）、『ドリームランド』（2005年）などがあります。レインズは、ジェームズ・マンゴールド監督による2007年のクラシック・ウェスタン『3:10 to Yuma』のリメイクでマーシャル・ウェザーズ役を演じ、特に強い印象を残しました。
