スティーブン・ウィリアム・ホーキング CH CBE FRS FRSA（1942年1月8日 - 2018年3月14日）は、イギリスの理論物理学者、宇宙論者、著者であり、ケンブリッジ大学の理論宇宙論センターの研究ディレクターでした。彼の科学的業績には、一般相対性理論の枠組みの中でロジャー・ペンローズとの重力特異点定理に関する共同研究や、ブラックホールが放射を放出するという理論的予測（しばしばホーキング放射と呼ばれる）が含まれています。ホーキングは、一般相対性理論と量子力学の統合によって説明される宇宙論の理論を最初に提唱しました。彼は、量子力学の多世界解釈の強力な支持者でした。
