ウィリアム・ジェームス「カウント」ベイシー（/ˈbeɪsi/; 1904年8月21日 - 1984年4月26日）は、アメリカのジャズピアニスト、オルガニスト、バンドリーダー、作曲家でした。1935年にカウント・ベイシー・オーケストラを結成し、1936年にはシカゴで長期の契約を結び、初のレコーディングを行いました。彼はほぼ50年間グループを指導し、2つの「スプリット」テナーサックスの使用、リズムセクションの強調、大編成バンドとのリフ、サウンドを広げるためのアレンジャーの利用、ミニマリストなピアノスタイルなどの革新を生み出しました。 彼の指導の下で多くのミュージシャンが名声を得ました。テナーサッ...
