20世紀の最高の歌手の一人とされるディック・ヘイムズは、アルゼンチンにスコットランド系/アイルランド系の父とアイルランド系の母のもとに生まれましたが、幼少期にアメリカに移住しました。ディックは、母親から受け継いだ声の才能を持っており、母は大恐慌の時代に歌手や声楽教師として生計を立てていました。1931年の音楽の仕事が地元のバンドリーダーの目に留まり、ディックは徐々に上昇していきましたが、進展は遅かったです。1939年、ディックがバンドリーダーのハリー・ジェイムスに自作の曲を売り込もうとしていると、代わりに彼の専属ボーカリストになりました。戦争の年には、ディックはベニー・グッドマンやトミー・ドー...
