経歴・プロフィール
カリフォルニア州パロアルトで生まれたジョンストンは、スタンフォード大学に通い、将来のアニメーターであるフランク・トーマスと共にキャンパスのユーモア雑誌「スタンフォード・チャパラル」で活動しました。その後、最終学年にチュイナード美術学院に転校しました。オリーは1943年に、ディズニーの同僚であるインク・アンド・ペイントアーティストのマリー・ワーシーと結婚しました。
