J. ロバート・オッペンハイマーはアメリカの理論物理学者でした。カリフォルニア大学バークレー校の物理学教授であり、オッペンハイマーは戦時中ロスアラモス研究所の責任者であり、マンハッタン計画における役割から「原子爆弾の父」としてしばしば称されています。この計画は第二次世界大戦中に最初の核兵器を開発しました。オッペンハイマーは、1945年7月16日に最初の原子爆弾が成功裏に爆発したトリニティテストを観測した人々の中にいました。
