15歳でボディビルをはじめ、20歳でミスター・ユニバースとなる。1970年「ヘラクレス・イン・ニューヨーク」で映画デビュー。「ロング・グッドバイ」（73）などの端役を経て、「コナン・ザ・グレート」（82）で主演に抜てきされ、ジェームズ・キャメロン監督の「ターミネーター」（84）でスターの地位を確立。「プレデター」（87）、「トータル・リコール」（90）、「ターミネーター2」（91）、「トゥルー・ライズ」（94）、「バットマン＆ロビン Mr.フリーズの逆襲」（97）など、世界的に知られるアクションスターとして長きにわたり数多くのハリウッド大作に出演する。「ターミネーター3」が公開された2003年...
