経歴・プロフィール
ジョナス・メカスは1922年にリトアニアのセメニシュキアイという農村で生まれました。1944年、彼と兄のアドルファスはナチスによってドイツのエルムスホルンにある強制労働キャンプに連れて行かれました。戦後、彼はマインツ大学で哲学を学びました。1949年末、国連難民機関が二人の兄弟をニューヨーク市に連れて行き、ブルックリンのウィリアムズバーグに定住しました。 ニューヨークに到着してから2ヶ月後、彼はお金を借りて最初のボレックスカメラを購入し、自分の生活の短い瞬間を記録し始めました。彼はすぐにアメリカのアヴァンギャルド映画運動に深く関わるようになりました。1954年、兄と共に『フィルム・カルチャー...
