フランク・パウエルはカナダ生まれの舞台およびサイレント映画の俳優、監督、プロデューサー、脚本家で、主にアメリカで活動していました。D.W.グリフィスの映画での演技からキャリアをスタートさせた後、彼は1915年の作品『愚者がいた』でセダ・バラをブレイクアウト役にキャスティングしました。パウエルは、バラが映画業界で最も人気のあるヴァンプとして国際的なスターになる中、フォックスで彼女を引き続き監督しました。
